Terms of sale

What you are buying, how much it costs, how you pay, and how you stop.

Purpose and scope

These terms govern the sale of subscriptions to the CIVIC service to consumers within the meaning of the French Consumer Code. They are accepted on subscription and supplement the terms of use.

The plans

The Free plan is free, with no time limit and no bank card. It gives access to one complete topic, two sets of questions and one timed mock exam. No trial turns into a charge.

The CIVIC unlimited plan is a paid subscription. It opens the five topics of the syllabus, the sets of questions and the mock exams without any counter, along with all the study sheets.

Price

The CIVIC unlimited subscription is offered at €4.99 a month. The applicable VAT regime is stated on the invoice.

The applicable price is the one displayed on the pricing page at the time of the order, and repeated on the payment screen before validation. Prices are stated in euros.

The price may be changed for the future. Any current subscriber is informed by email at least one month before the instalment concerned, and may cancel free of charge before the new price takes effect. No change applies to a period already paid for.

Subscribing

You subscribe from your personal space, once your account has been created. The flow shows you the chosen plan, its price and its billing period, then asks you to confirm your order. Validation of the payment forms the contract.

A confirmation is sent to you by email. Your subscription is active immediately.

Payment

Payment is made by bank card, at the time of subscription and then at each instalment, by automatic charge to the registered payment method.

Payments are processed by Stripe, an authorised payment service provider. Your card details are entered and held by Stripe on its PCI-DSS certified infrastructure: CIVIC never has access to them and keeps no copy. The transaction may require strong authentication from your bank.

If a charge is declined, a further attempt is made. If payment remains impossible, access to the subscription features is suspended until the situation is regularised, without the account or the progress being deleted.

Duration, renewal and cancellation

The subscription is taken out with no minimum commitment. It is concluded for the period shown at the order and renews automatically at each instalment, for as long as you do not end it.

You may cancel at any time from your personal space, in a few clicks and without having to give a reason, in accordance with article L. 215-1-1 of the French Consumer Code. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period: access remains open until that date, and no further charge is made.

Cancelling the subscription does not delete your account, which reverts to the free plan.

Right of withdrawal

You have in principle fourteen days to withdraw from a contract concluded at a distance, without having to give a reason.

The CIVIC subscription, however, concerns digital content supplied immediately and not on a physical medium. Under article L. 221-28, 13° of the French Consumer Code, the right of withdrawal cannot be exercised where performance has begun after your prior express agreement and your express waiver of that right. That is what you confirm at the time of the order, before any payment, by clicking the “S’abonner” (subscribe) button, which is accompanied by a statement saying so expressly; the payment page reminds you of it before you confirm.

If you do not agree to waive that right, access to the paid plan opens at the end of the fourteen-day period, and the right of withdrawal remains until then. You may then exercise it by an unambiguous statement sent to our contact address, or using the form reproduced at the end of this document. Reimbursement is made within fourteen days of receipt of your request, by the same means of payment.

The free plan is not concerned: it gives rise to no payment.

Legal guarantee of conformity

The digital content supplied benefits from the legal guarantee of conformity provided for in articles L. 224-25-12 et seq. of the French Consumer Code. In the event of a lack of conformity, you may require it to be brought into conformity free of charge; failing that, obtain a price reduction or the termination of the contract. The guarantee applies without prejudice to the right to damages.

This guarantee covers the supply of the service, not the result obtained in the exam, which depends on your preparation.

Invoices

An invoice is issued at each instalment and made available in your personal space. It is kept by the publisher for ten years, in accordance with its accounting obligations.

Complaints and mediation

Any complaint may be addressed to our contact address. We undertake to reply within one month.

Under article L. 612-1 of the French Consumer Code, if the dispute persists you may use a consumer mediator free of charge. The details of the competent mediator appear below as soon as one is appointed, and are provided on request.

Applicable law

These terms are governed by French law. Nothing in them deprives the consumer of the benefit of the mandatory provisions of the law of their habitual residence within the European Union.

Model withdrawal form

To be completed and returned only if you wish to withdraw from a contract for which you have not waived that right.
